American Association of Private Lenders Member Spotlight | Eric Corliss

How long have you been an AAPL member?

1 year

What AAPL benefit do you MOST value?

I love that AAPL provides a quality platform for private lending professionals to connect with other like-minded individuals in the industry. I have appreciated the access and exposure to other incredible people as interpersonal relationship-building is crucial to our work.

Why did you become a member?

Our company, 1892 Capital Partners, firmly values education and continuous improvement. Joining a group like AAPL aligns with those values.

What is your favorite AAPL memory?

I enjoyed my first AAPL Vegas conference. While we consider ourselves real estate and finance experts, direct lending is a new industry for our organization. My first conference was an eye-opener into the breadth and depth of the AAPL organization as it opened my mind to possibilities for 1892 Capital Partners, a business entity of Corliss Ventures, to be an active private lender.

Why did you decide to enter the private lending profession?

My predecessors paved my journey to private lending and real estate. What I love about private lending and real estate, in general, is the entrepreneurialism and creativity that it encourages.

What are some accomplishments you are particularly proud of?

I am most proud of my role as a father and husband. In that role, I find my greatest joy and purpose in life. Regarding my professional accomplishments, I am pleased to have carried the ball forward as a 5th-generation family business owner.

What is your favorite book, and why?

East of Eden by John Steinbeck. It is a beautifully written book illustrating the capacity for redemption, the freedom of choice, and the potential for personal growth.
